How to Test Your Car Battery

When you go to start your car in Princeton and find that it’s only making clicking sounds, your first thought may be that your battery is dead. It’s important to test your battery to know how charged it is.

A multimeter is going to be the best tool to test your car’s battery. This is a small, electronic device that you plug into your battery. Turn the ignition off. Then, the red lead goes to the positive battery cable and the black lead goes to the negative one.

The readout will tell you what the voltage is. You can see whether it’s fully charged by knowing the voltage of your car’s battery.
